It inhibits the ALS (Acetolactate Synthase) enzyme, which is essential for the synthesis of branched-chain amino acids (valine, leucine, isoleucine). Due to this inhibition, protein synthesis stops in the weed. As a result, cell division and growth are arrested, leading to gradual death of the weed.
